2. Meals

If you are going to visit places, it is a must to try their local cuisines. It will not only let you learn about their history and culture but will also let you save money. Eating delicious but cheap authentic food is one of the greatest things that a traveler can experience.

But of course, you cannot just eat local food all throughout your vacation. You can also eat to their known restaurants but make sure that you make a meal plan or you figured out where are these economical restaurants that offer great tasting food. You can also do your own grocery and cook for yourself to save even more money.

3. Transportation

Always welcome public transportation! It will not only help you save money while traveling but it will also teach you to learn on following directions and reading maps. Explore the place by riding a bus or subway. It may not be convenient for you but it will help you know and be familiar with the place and you can also meet new friends along the way. Avoid taxis as much as possible because aside from it is too expensive, it is also the laziest way to get to your destination.

4. Accommodations

Always look for inexpensive accommodations for travelers like hostels. Keep in mind that you are just going to sleep and rest on that place, there is no need to spend a lot of money on lodging. It is a significant money saver! You may have to share community bathroom and other common areas with others, but look at the benefit of meeting and talking to other travelers. Also remember to stay in a hostel that is just near to the airport or your destination.

5. Sightseeing

Plan before you go! To avoid wasting money on not interesting places to go to, you should make a list on what really are the places that you are going to visit. Make a clear and informative itinerary for your vacation. You can also create a budget for every destination that you wanted to visit. Do a research about these places, to let you know and prepare yourself on what to expect on that destination and how much money needed to enjoy that place. Always remember that not all tourist spots are interesting, so make sure to only explore on places where your interest is.

If you are going to visit a place, remember to do a research about their festivals, free museums and parks. You can take good pictures without spending money on events and places like these.

6. Shopping

Shop like the locals! Avoid tourist filled areas which are usually expensive. Look for the best prices on souvenir items like local goods. Do not be afraid to haggle with the merchants to get the lowest price for items that you wanted.

Top Three Tools to Use Facebook Photos for Traveling

Here are three tools that you can use when you are traveling. They are based around images and how you use the Facebook information you have on your account. They make it easier to synchronize your Facebook information with that on your phone or your computer. The tools are here to help you share your images whilst you are on holiday, and some of them even allow you to choose when it synchronizes, so that you do not have to pay extra overseas Internet charges.

vringo1 – Vringo

This is a free iPhone app that you can use to assign your friends to the pictures you just took. It allows you to use your Facebook friends as your contacts, which are then tagged on your images. If you upload them, then you can even have the app tell your friends that they have just been tagged on your photos. If you are going on holiday, then it may be fun to tag the people you are going with on your photos.

Photo Phonebook will also allow you to do the same thing, and it is also free on the iPhone. You can even do fun stuff such as tagging a donkey as one of your friends on Facebook. The apps will automatically match and synchronize with Facebook. You can even set these apps so that when you get a call on your phone, their most recently tagged photo will appear. If you don’t like that, then you can choose which of their Facebook photos comes up when you are called by them.

Vringo also gives the user a much greater control over the whole synchronization process, which means that you do not have to pay roaming charges if you are out of the country. You can simply synchronize your phone and your Facebook account when you get home.

With Photo Phonebook you may find that some people become attached with pictures in your phone book, even if it is not the right person. But, not all apps are perfect, and you should expect a bug or two in the best of them. Just like how you may find that if the photos are overused or stretched that they lose a lot of their quality.

2 – FriendSync

Just like taking a bite out of a watermelon, this is a mouthful. It is an iPhone app that you can use to synchronize your profile pics on your Facebook page with your holiday snaps on your iPhone. It has a lot of image customization tools and functions that allow you to alter images and also to change who they are assigned to and other such Facebook functions that you are probably used to by now.

You can manually adjust how the images are synchronized from your phone to your Facebook account. You can even customize how big the image is that comes up when you are called. You can pull an image from Facebook, or you can use one from your phone. You assign it to a caller, but you get to decide how big the image is when it pops up. This app has been noted as being rather slow at times, as many reviewers will attest, so it is up to you, as some people do not mind a bit of lag.

3 – Fonebook

This tool does almost the same thing as the two tools listed above. You could always try the tool Fonebook on your PC or FacebookSync on your Mac if you want the same functions but do not have an iPhone. If you have Outlook or a Mac Address book contacts, then you can do the whole thing with the images and the contacts that you can do with the iPhone with the tools listed above. If you are using a computer and you are not in your home (i.e. you are traveling), then you can use these tools to tag where you are and can start uploading images of where you are.

AddressBookSync and FacebookSync also do what the Fonebook tools do, but they try to go a little further and offer more customization. This may or may not be a good thing, as they do seem to keep getting in trouble with the people at Facebook for breaching their Facebook’s Terms of Use. The problem that most of these tools face is that Facebook does not want you syncing phone numbers or addresses with any sort of outside tool.

It is a nice idea, but the fact is that it happens anyway. The fact is that if you are on Facebook then your details are open to the world, whether you want them to be or not. At least the tools on this article are trying to do it so that it is easier when you are traveling, as opposed to using their powers to help people spam you via phone calls and email.
